To keep things interesting Troy has joined forces with some old friends to start a new musical project that is completely different than anything else he is doing. For this group Troy is singing and playing mandolin and is joined by Aubrey Boothman on vocals, percussion and guitar and Tom Gaasenbeek on fiddle to form Quell the Swell. The band works as a trio for smaller venues but for larger spaces and bigger budgets they can be expanded to a five or six piece band that includes Loralee McGuirl on piano, guitar and vocals, Steve Tomalty drums and vocals and Rob Monaco on bass and vocals. Quell the Swell play a wide range of music including; traditional celtic music by Stan Rogers, The Dubliners and the Irish Rovers, to East coast music like Great Big Sea and Spirit of the West, celtic influenced rock bands like The Pogues, Flogging Molly and The Dropkick Murphys, foot stomping instrumental fiddle tunes, jigs and reels and even some popular music by Green Day, The Tragically Hip, The Beatles, REM and the Proclaimers that we put our own celtic spin on. It's always a good time and not just on St Paddys Day.
