New Quell The Swell Video

To keep things UP, while things were shut DOWN, I made the best use of my time writing and recording new music. I have also been learning the ins and outs of creating music videos. Please check out my latest creation on my youtube channel. It features myself and my friends in Quell The Swell covering a Great Big Sea Classic called When I'm Up I Can't Get Down.

lIVE AT THE JUNCTION

Troy was recently featured on episode 3 of an exciting new webcast called live at the Junction. Live at the Junction is an ongoing podcast series that is hosted by Jamie Petrie and filmed at Darcy McGilligans recording studio in Canfield Ontario. Each episode features interviews and performances by a diverse cross section of southern Ontario musicians. You can expect to be hearing a lot more about this podcast as it grows in popularity. It is a great way to discover some of Canadas best up and coming artist.

QUELL THE SWELL

To keep things interesting Troy has joined forces with some old friends to start a new musical project that is completely different than anything else he is doing. For this group Troy is singing and playing mandolin and is joined by Aubrey Boothman on vocals, percussion and guitar, Tom Gaasenbeek on fiddle, Steve Tomalty drums and vocals and Rob Monaco on bass and vocals to form Quell the Swell. We play a wide range of music including; traditional celtic music by Stan Rogers, The Dubliners and the Irish Rovers, to East coast music like Great Big Sea and Spirit of the West, celtic influenced rock bands like The Pogues, Flogging Molly and The Dropkick Murphys, foot stomping instrumental fiddle tunes, jigs and reels and even some popular music by Green Day, The Tragically Hip, The Beatles, REM and the Proclaimers that we put our own celtic spin on. It's always a good time and not just on St Paddys Day.

Troy HARMER LIVE IN CONCERT AT YOUR PLACE on youtube

Prior to the days during the corona virus when everyone was posting online concerts, Troy was hosting a weekly live music podcast called Troy Harmer Live In Concert At Your Place. For one hour every Tuesday at 8pm Troy would perform mix of music and online request. To keep things interesting Troy would add new songs every week and sometimes he would be joined by one of his talented friends as a special guest. It was a lot of fun to do at the time and we are very proud of the shows we put together but it never really took off the way we had hoped. Then suddenly during the pandemic everyone was doing a podcast and it seemed redundant. If you are interested in seeing and hearing what we did, all of these performances are still archived on youtube. You can check them out on this youtube channel. Don't forget to subscribe to get alerts to new music video post.

Other Projects
The key to playing music for a living is that you need to be as versatile as possible.  If I had my choice I would be playing electric guitar with the Persuaders every night of the week. My true love will always be playing and singing blues and classic rock. However I do also enjoy playing jazz, acoustic guitar and classical guitar. Luckily for me I get to do it all.

In an effort to scratch all my musical itches, I am booking myself with several other projects. I have a Celtic group called Quell The Swell. As mentioned above I am now a full time member of a traditional blues band called Bluze Cruze. I also have 3 other side projects that have their own pages on this website.

The Troy Harmer Jazz Trio: instrumental jazz and funk featuring guitar, bass and drums.
Hardwood an acoustic duo that plays classic rock and top forty featuring Troy guitar vocals Steven Tomalty drums and vocals.

Solo instrumental guitar gigs for wedding ceremonies and/or dinner music. I have added 3 new pages to this website that showcase these other projects. If you know of any venues or festivals that would be a good fit for the Persuaders or one of my other projects please let me know.
